Draw a floor plan online for free, with room areas and a PDF to scale

If you need a quick 2D floor plan of a flat, a house or an office, to plan furniture, show a landlord, or check how many square metres a room really is, open Floor Plan. You draw walls and rooms on a grid, it shows every wall's length and every room's area, and you can export a PDF at a real scale. It's a free alternative to RoomSketcher for 2D plans, and nothing you draw is uploaded.

Open Floor Plan

Step by step

  1. Open Floor Plan. To see how a finished plan looks first, choose File → Load example flat.
  2. Pick Room and drag a rectangle. The room gets walls around it automatically (untick "Add walls around new rooms" to turn that off), a name and its area. For an L-shaped or angled room, click its corners one by one and click the first corner again to close it.
  3. Pick Wall to draw single walls: click to start, click at each corner, and double-click or press Enter to finish. Lengths appear as you draw. Walls snap to the grid, to other wall ends and to 15° angles; hold Alt for free drawing.
  4. Pick Door or Window and click on a wall. Drag it along the wall to move it; in the panel on the right, set its width, and flip a door's swing or hinge side.
  5. Click furniture in the Furniture list (beds, sofa, tables, kitchen, bathroom, desk, stairs and more) and click on the plan to place it. Drag to move, press R to turn it 90°, and drag the corner dot or type a width and depth to resize.
  6. Click any wall to type its exact length, or a room to rename it and pick its colour. Drag the dots at the corners to reshape. Ctrl+Z undoes.
  7. Press Export. Choose Save PDF with the paper size, orientation and scale, or Save PNG for an image. Use File → Save plan file to keep a copy you can open again later.

Who it helps

Why it's private

Floor Plan is a static page. Your plan is saved in your browser's storage on your device and is never uploaded. The PNG and PDF are made by your browser, and the page's security policy blocks it from sending data to other websites. It works offline after the first visit.

Tips and limits

FAQ

Is this floor plan maker free?

Yes. Drawing, room areas, furniture, PNG export and PDF export to scale are all free, with no account and no watermark.

How is the room area worked out?

Each room is a shape you draw, and its area is calculated from that shape's corners. Draw rooms along the inside of the walls if you want the usable floor area.

Can I print the plan to scale?

Yes. Export a PDF, choose A4, A3 or US Letter and a scale such as 1:50 or 1:100 (or let it pick the biggest that fits), then print at 100% or actual size. The page has a scale bar so you can check.

Can I use feet instead of metres?

Yes. Switch Units to feet in the Plan panel. Lengths show in feet and inches and areas in square feet.

Does it do 3D?

No. It is a 2D floor plan tool. It does not make 3D views or photo-like renders.
